I downloaded this patch from Appeon.

PWRBLDR-2017R3LTS-MR07-1915-EN.zip

I expanded it and ran setup.exe.

I get the following error message.

"The installed version of the application could not be determined.  The setup will now terminate."

The setup then quits.

I looked at the Help->About in Powerbuilder 2017 R3 IDE build 1880 and it says this:

Appeon Powerbuilder Standard Edition

Version 2017 R3 Build 1880

Built on Jan 26 2019 at 06:23:01

I am running Windows 10 Pro

Version 1909

Installed on 7/18/2019

OS build 18363.535

Please advise.

Best regards,

William Marsh

Hi William,

According to the documentation, you must have Administrator privileges to fully install this product. Normally, it should prompt you to escalate your privileges when you click on the setup.exe. If that doesn't happen for some reason, please try right click on the setup.exe and choose "Run as administrator." Please let us know if it resolves your issue.

Adding to what Tom said ...

FWIW: I always install and run all Appeon products as ADMIN. I used to do that with Sybase products as well. Never had any issues going that way. Some PB IDE features need you to run the IDE in ADMIN mode. So why not set it up that way. Just my $0.02

Success!

I logged in to a command window as administrator and ran the setup.exe of the MR.  It applied the patch and I am now at build 1915.

Thank you Tom!

Will
