I am in the process of updating the look and feel of our application.  Part of this is selecting a new font for our application. Since I will have to go through every single object and change this I am wondering if there is a way to have the fonts globally change just like we can do in the PowerBuilder IDE.  What would be nice is to have the Font tab have a drop down that you can select 'Global App Setting' then in the future I would only ever have to change it in one place. Has anyone ever done something like this or is this not a good idea.

Also, what font are people using now? From what I have read it seems to be Segoe UI.

Thanks,

Chris Craft

Hi Chris;

  FWIW: For W7 => W8.x the popular font was Tahoma (MS-Office 2000 standard). However with the introduction of W10, you are correct in that the "Segoe UI" font has become more popular than Tahoma. Apparently they are very close in rendering but the "Segoe UI" font is a little clearer and thus has a slight better in readability.

wait, what happened to calibri as being 'the font'?

tahoma was always too wide, calibri is thinner.

some adjustment is usually needed when a font is changed...

So we have no way to dynamically change the font like the PB IDE. Future feature request?

Thank you for the other options to change the font globally. Although its a bummer that I need to check-out every single object to do this.

...let me in on the secret then...I do have an ancestor framework. But to do that in the framework means I will need to execute a modify for every DataWindow and loop through all the controls on User Objects and Windows to set the font facename as the window is opening (which I don't even think that will work)...but I must be missing what you are saying right?
