Lloyd just solved a crashing IDE by running (from an Adminstrator Command Prompt):

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow

I don't think it'll hurt to give it a try.

Dear Chris,

Happy New Year 2022.

Regarding the answer to your 3 questions:

Answer: We are deploying the application through PowerClient on client machines and latest DLLs are updated.

Yes we have all PB & MS DLL's deployed on the client machines.

Regarding 2nd message, below is the event log file text:

Faulting application name: OurApp.exe, version: 1.0.0.1, time stamp: 0x6171928d
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.22000.348, time stamp: 0xbbfacb11

Note:

1) Pc was formatted but the problem still continued. Presently 5-6 users are facing such issues and the program is crashing on any module and at any time.

2) Same Application is used by many users but they are not facing such issues.

Is there anything else we can on the Client Machine?

Thanking you and best regards

Tariq Mahmood

Hi Tariq,

Are these 5-6 users all using Windows 11?

As we can’t reproduce this issue, we suggest you kindly report this issue to our ticket system: https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/newbug so that it can be properly received and tracked. Please also provide a sample PB test case (with PBT / PBL) when you submit it to the ticket system.

Hi Dainis;

 Interesting ... It's faulting on an MS-Windows DLL ... C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

  I'm not having any such issues with my PB2021 Apps on my W11 test machines (32/64 P-Code and 32bit M-Code). I wonder if your missing a PB runtime DLL? How did you deploy the PB runtime? Also, have you checked your list of PB runtime DLL's with the PB help to see if you have all the required PB & MS DLL's on the deployment machines?

Regards ... Chris

Hi Tariq;

   I would check the MS-Windows Event Log for more information. Sounds like the App was working initially but all of a sudden developed this crash behavior. I'd that correct?

Hmmm ... that's the IDE crashing. However, if your running the PB App from the IDE, the IDE runs this as a Sub-Task of itself (main task). If the sub-task crashes hard and cannot recover, the O/S then blames the main task as the culprit. I would suggest ...

1) Compiling the PB App into an EXE and test run it that way. Then observe the O/S event log crash data.

Q: Have you tried running the IDE "As Admin"?

Regards ... Chris

Perhaps you sould check the versions of the ntdll.dll on the machines crashing and those not crashing. Might show up some differences in the operating environment.
