I have a datawindow in which I want to resize a band's height depending on the height of the last control which is a text field that can be short or quite long (a note kind of field).

So what I have done is put the details band as autosize height and the control itself too.

Then I have "closed" the details band in the designer otherwise it wouldn't shrink.

Now it works to some extent as the details band expands so that the control is visible, but it cuts about half of the last line of the text horizontally. It's as if PB wasn't able to correctly calculate the height it needs to expand to.

Any advice?

See for yourself :

Greetings, Yoan -

I have no definitive answer for you - but some questions/ideas to investigate:

What font is assigned to the Height.Autosize column? Can you try alternatives, even temporarily, and obserrve any changes in behavior?

Have you tried running/testing with different printers selected as the default printer? As I understand it, the DataWindow Engine (DWE) renders based on the capabilities of the default printer. Is the font used in the Height.Autosize column available in the printer as a standard font? If not, a substitute font may be used.

In the DW in question, is the Height.Autosize column used for data entry or solely for reporting? The help for Height.Autosize mentions this property should not be used with data entry fields.

Regards, John

We have faced (but never really solved) similar issues with some of our datawindows.

One thing we've found to sometimes help was to set the zoom of the datawindow to 100%.

If that didn't help (and it was possible) we've added another control with white text below the control being cut off.

Yeah I thought about doing the white text below that but I figured there must be a cleaner way to do it, I guess maybe not! I am a C# guy so I don't know a whole lot about PB.

Thanks!

I am using a VM through remote desktop so I can't really know what zoom percentage I am at unfortunately. But it could be just that. I will run a test on a computer at 100% when I can.

Thanks for your reply!
