Thanks to Armeen's suggestion onm y last question I was able to successfully install baseline PBv12.0, open up a workspace, connect to a database, and successfully run the application! Thank you, Armeen!

Now I need to upgrade to PBv12.1, build 7055. The first thing I did was download the baseline PBv12.1 upgrade EBF 18315. I run the SETUP.EXE as Administrator. It starts to open up the installer, then I get this:

The same error occurs when I try to run it from the CMD PROMPT> setup -i GUI

Criminey! Now what?

Thank You,

Olan

PS:  This was the same error I was getting on the baseline PB12.0 install when I was clicking on Install Options that required the .NET libraries.  Olan

Hi Olan;

   I have PB 12.1 installed and running OK on my W10 machines. If I remember correctly (this was quite a few years ago now), the only way that I got the v12.1 install to work was to first boot W10 in "safe" mode and then run the Setup.exe. I think that I had to do the same too for PB 12.5.2 as well.

HTH

Regards ... Chris

As a side note, we have decided to move our code to PB2019 R2. Someday soon. Hopefully within the next 60 days.

After the migration to 2019, we will still have a bounty of Win7 / PBv12.1 versions of our apps that we will need to support and maintain. At least until we upgrade the client versions of the code!

Maybe somebody has better suggestion, but only thing I can think of is start with clean environment, install PB first, then install Visual Studio.  W10 was never tested or supported for PB12.  You need PB 2017 or newer to have a more reliable install experience.
