Hello Appeon,

We have migrated all our application from PB 17 to PB 22 Build 1878, Runtime 1878 and we have build package with the help of InstallShield and things are going good.

Now, Could you please answer me on below -

1. Some of our client programmer has downloaded PB 22 Build 1900 , Runtime 1878 , will there by any issue ?

2. What will happen if version of IDE will be different from version of runtime ?

3. Can we have use latest IDE version and any old runtime version ?

4. Can we use latest runtime version and old IDE version ?

 

Your answer will be highly appreciated!

Hi Vijay;

  1. No
  2. You need to set the build you want to use in the IDE's System Options dialogue for each App you're working on 
  3. No, only builds within the current IDE's major version are supported.
  4. No, only builds within the current IDE major version.

Ideally, it seems common sense for every one of the production developers of an application to all be using the same version, release and build of the IDE and runtime. While it may be possible to utilize different builds, I think you're only asking for trouble in doing so in a production environment. What will your employer say if using different builds across the development team leads to unforeseen, major issues? How will you defend the decision? Why take an unnecessary risk?

You can use older runtime versions (but not before 2019 R3) with newer IDE versions.

You can't use newer runtimes with older IDE versions.
