Hi

I just wanted to confirm if it is OK/Possible to run PB2022 IDE & PB2022R2 IDE on the same dev PC.

The reason for this is that we have an active project in PB2022 which has just gone into Beta UAT and we do not want to migrate to PB2022R2 at this critical stange. We also have a new project starting that is dependant upon PB2022R2 new features.

I do not want to blindly install PB2022R2 and overrite my PB2022 development.

Thanks for your help?

Cheers

David

The IDE will be upgraded.  the older runtime will remain and you can still build/run with the the older runtime.

If you use PS2022 and FTP deployment, then you will lose ftp deployment if you upgrade the IDE.

autofill is added starting with PB 2022 (first release), are there more things added to datawindows after the 1900 release?

I often have to reverse migrate to earlier datawindow versions, and i keep a list of the things that have to be removed ( i wish appeon would publish the list)

By the way, autocomplete options are visible even when using EBF 1900 or lower. But when the runtime is set to R1 those options don't affect datawindow syntax.

And finally, I did add the property for autocomplete in a datawindow using 2819. I then downgraded my project to 1900 (changed runtime version to 1900, closed IDE, opened IDE and migrated the project to 1900). I saw a syntax error for that datawindow while migrating, but was able to open it in the editor without any issue, and the most surprising my application was working fine without fixing that problem (I was able to use that datawindow without issues)... I only saw the syntax error when I regenerated the datawindow, but still the application was executing fine.

When I edited the datawindow and made a very small change, everything was fix. So I guess that the editor somehow ignores the autocomplete keyword from syntax (that's probably why I couldn't see in the designer the value set to that property before migrating back to 1900)...

Andreas.

Hi, David -

You might consider installing PB 2022 R2 temporarily on a Windows virtual machine with virtualization software, such as Microsoft Hyper-V, Oracle VirtualBox, VMware Workstation or similar. I've used VirtualBox before (although not recently) when Windows 7 was about to go EOL for similar reasons that you've described, and it worked well.

Best regards, John

Thanks John

I can spin up a VM of our Hyper-V datacentre server. But was hoping to avoid that.
