HI

I would like to test the new 2019 r3 beta and try it out

Can I install this in parallell with 2029 R2?

Are there many changes in the powerscript compiler? How is the risk of using the compiled code from r3 beta vs r2

Hi Gunnar,

Adding to what Marco said, only major versions can be installed side-by-side.  So for example, PB 2017 R3 and PB 2019 R2 will install side-by-side but PB 2019 R2 and PB 2019 R3 beta cannot!

For the situation you described, I strongly recommend keeping your PB 2019 R2 environment and source code backed up.  Use a virtual machine and install the beta on that.  Your PB license floats so you simply log out of PB 2019 R2 and then log into the beta.

Generally speaking, customer should NOT use beta in a production environment.  The good news is that the final release of PB 2019 R3 is not far away... most likely early December.

This page outlines some of the most notable new features and download link: https://www.appeon.com/developers/pb-2019r3-beta.html

Best regards,
Armeen

Hi Gunnar,

if you have 2019 R2 installed and select to install R3, R2 will be upgraded to R3.

In addition, please follow the notes here for project upgrade:

Best,
