Hi Armeen

PowerServer Mobile - is such an AWESOME product.

But I'm trying to find out if there is a Product Roadmap for the product ?

I.e.

Atm the RestClient object is NOT supported but will it be ?

And the JSON objects ?

(and basic functionalities as sounds.. etc :) )

and later

- look and feel controls....

Businesses who are going to make strategic decisions need to know !!!

- otherwise the road would probably be Xamarin - which would be such a bummer!

Regards

Georgios

Hi Georgios,

The mobile world is fast changing, and I would argue that even Microsoft with its Xamarin has really fallen behind.

On the other hand, once we took over PowerBuilder from SAP we had big new responsibility to make it a great tool.  We decided to revamp PowerBuilder into a strong solution for desktop cloud app development, executing step-by-step with each new version.

So with that said, it is not realistic to expect major enhancements to the mobile side of things.  If you plan to do a sophisticated mobile app and/or need to deploy to the app stores, unfortunately it may be best you use another solution for the UI development.  However, you can automatically migrate existing logic of your PowerBuilder app to REST Web APIs that are called from your mobile UI app.

As a fan of PowerServer Mobile, I know this is not what you want to hear.  But it is more important to us as a company that we advise our customers as best as we can.

Best regards,
Armeen

Armeen ,

I must be blind - I simply can't find roadmap for PowerServer (Mobile) - only PowerBuilder

There is no major enhancements planned for the next version so you don’t see it listed.
