Hi,

We have installed Appeon and and the database is Oracle and it is connected through ODBC. It is working perfectly in 32 bit server.

When we moved to 64 bit server. the ODBC is not working correctly when we connect database  in Appeon. it is throwing "Failed to connect database error".

Please hep on to connect Appeon through ODBC.

Regards,

Badar

Hi Badar,

Because PowerServer does not connect to Oracle over ODBC drvier, I guess you are talk PowerBuilder. please check it is a 64-bit or 32-bit ODBC data source, if the data source work well? and please make sure you had deploy PB appliation to correct platform(32-bit or 64-bit).

ZhaoKai

Hi Badar;

Unlike Marco, if I assume that you mean PowerServer when you say "Appeon" (which is a non-product descript ) - then yes, the 32bit ODBC DSN will not work as PS is most likely 64 bit in nature. You will need a 64 bit ODBC driver for your DBMS and then create a 64 bit DSN in order to connect via PS's "Data Source" definition.

Just to clarify on what Chris said, ODBC is not supported connection type when using PowerServer Web or Mobile in combination with Oracle database. It is clearly written in the documentation that Oracle native driver should be used: https://www.appeon.com/support/documents/appeon_online_help/ps2019/installation_guide/ch02s03.html So using ODBC would be completely at your own risk without any tech support from Appeon.

Just to add to Armeen's comment ... you will need the "64bit" native Oracle drivers for PowerServer.

Hi Bhagrudin,

> "When we moved to 64 bit server. the ODBC is not working correctly when we connect database  in Appeon"

I assume by "Appeon" you mean the PB IDE, which is a 32bit application and needs 32bit datasources in its "Database profile". So, have 32bit ODBC driver on your dev machine to connect the Oracle server.

You can instead use 64bit Oracle ODBC from 64bit compiled (EXE) applications (flag the "64bit platform" option in the application project).

Best,

.m

P.S.

If, by any chance, by "Appeon" you mean PowerServer, this will need 64bit Native drivers, not ODBC.
