is there any way to NOT install the example applications?  or are we stuck with example bloat?

Hi Mike,

Yes it is true that with online installer, if you select the null option in the database dropdown, the demo apps are still installed without the database files.  This is an oversight in our design.  We will enhance in the later versions. 

If you insist on not installing the demo apps, please consider to download the offline installer.  The offline installer allows you to install the product without installing the demo apps. 

Well one more note: in this version we only provide 3 demo apps, less than 80 MB. Some old demos are removed and there are only: Code examples, sales demo showing the new features, and graph demo.
