Hi,

We seem to have an issue with infomaker generated PDFs when we switched in IDE 2022. It seems that safari browser, and IOS phones do not see the font but instead get dots.

It seems related to this issue in powerbuilder : https://community.appeon.com/index.php/qna/q-a/native-pdf-include-fonts-option-pb2022

A solution seems to exist for PB. I haven't found anything related for infomaker. Is there an option for Infomaker?

This is what anyone that uses safari or a apple phone sees:

Hi Chris and Mark,

We tested it with native pdf and it also needed the PDF/A 1-a export option to work. So it's now working.

I don't think we can go with R2 as we are using infomaker though our SIS (student information system) Vendor and they are the ones responsible for upgrading their system and effectively the version of infomaker that works with their product.

Thank you both for your anwers!

Hi John;

Thank you for the feedback & great news that the PDF/A 1-a setting fixed the issue.

FWIW: I would not recommend migrating to the R2 release but instead the R3 release as it's the LTS (Long Term Support) edition.

Regards .. Chris

Hi John,

Please confirm if you are currently using the "infomaker generated PDFs" with NativePDF using PDFlib or another method such as Distill.
We recommend using the NativePDF method to export PDFs.
For resolving font-related issues, you need to check the "Packaging custom fonts in the generated PDF files" option, as shown in the image below:

To save PDF output using PDFlib in the Library Options dialog box:
https://docs.appeon.com/im2022r3/imug/ch06s03.html#Saving_as_PDF_using_PDFlib

Additionally, this feature has been enhanced in InfoMaker 2022 R2. We recommend upgrading to this version or a higher version for use.
For more details, you can refer to the following link:

Regards,

Hi John;

  FWIW:  I have had similar problems before with other browsers and mobile devices. What I had to do was use the NativePDF feature and make sure that those PDF's were built using the "PDF/A 1-a" export option setting in order to be compliant.  HTH
