Version number for application

Hello,

We are using powerbuilder for client server application and the database is mainframe. Using Jenkins for code compilation & deployment.The exe file that is generated after successful compilation has application version number (ex: YYYY.MM.XX). Currently, the Jenkins is connecting to database to get the version number and applying it to exe file. We are migrating from mainframe to MySQL DB and don't want to connect to the database to get the version number and looking for alternate options. Looking for any recommendations on how this can be achieved. Thanks

 

Adding additional information.

MySQL DB is on AWS and the application is on-prem. They are on two different platforms and we cannot connect directly to the MySQL database .
