We have problems with objects not downloading to some users machines. It may be related to network/internet issues, but regardless the problems do not prevent all objects at all times, it just is slow and most likely (i'm guessing here) related to time outs from internet / firewall /security slowing things down. NOTE: this is not an issue with all objects not downloading, but just some intermittently.
Because the application is large and accessed from the internet we use the download on demand deployment option. Which for most of our users works great.
What would help is more configuration options on how the PS application is packaged up and deployed to the users:
- per pbd option to download all objects in the pbd on startup as a single download per pbd.
- ALL systems have 'core' objects needed in the application. so this option provides quicker startup then downloading everything, but efficient running as it download the common objects in one big shot.
- So you will have the option at the application level to download all objects on startup, all objects on demand, or specified libraries on startup and the rest on demand.
- per pbd option to download all objects in the pbd as a single download when any object in the pbd is used.
- for a modular application a user will often only need part of the application.
- This allows them to quickly get all the objects down for the module, but only those that they need.
- Also fine if this is not an option and always does this. this is how PS 2020 and prior worked.
