We are trying to use the recently discovered option to use the encrypted data string to connect to our Oracle database. In our IDE environment it works great however when we attempt to connect through a compiled exe the connection fails.
We deploy our Powerbuilder (build 3683) application by placing all the DLLs and compiled exe into the same folder on the clients workstation. We are guessing we are missing an DLL somewhere along the way but cannot seem to identify which one is missing. Here is our connection strings and I hope you can tell which DLLs are required. I did change some user and password for security reasons.
This connects in the IDE but fails once compiled.
SQLCA.DBMS = "O10 Oracle10g (10.1.0)"
ls_test ='qfBA7rrte7DvOyFeeD3JQmWbdD5gwa85pdAu1XUsG4GZLxCSIOsl/ALB83ZOyIYuJnrCgLM5BpMScyKVGqxQ89+ZsgBadkZoa7BmhesxPDmbliVgP04P5bXZtHCPuF/j4LShH4FJHORqFut8rnJrGVNbDnSliKBa03bb9wbEGRdMNn613l3RG8wTsNASxgSQ'
sqlca.EnableSecureConnection(true)
sqlca.SetSecureConnectionString(ls_test)
SQLCA.ServerName = "ls_test"
gs_versiontext = 'Version 70_9 - 03/11/2026 08:00'
gs_title = "Government Supply System - Oracle GOLDesp 17.7 Test Database Julian Date: " + ls_julian
gs_title2 = "Deployed Inventory Management System Test Database Julian Date:
" + ls_julian
This connects in both instances.
SQLCA.DBMS = "O10 Oracle10g (10.1.0)"
SQLCA.LogPass = 'xxxxx'
SQLCA.ServerName = "ls_test"
SQLCA.LogId = "user"
SQLCA.AutoCommit = False
SQLCA.DBParm = ""
SQLCA.DBParm = "SQLCache=512, PacketSize=2048"
SQLCA.DBParm = "PBCatalogOwner='user',DelimitIdentifier='No'"
gs_versiontext = 'Version 70_9 - 03/11/2026 08:00'
gs_title = "Government Supply System - Oracle GOLDesp 17.7 Test Database Julian Date: " + ls_julian
gs_title2 = "Deployed Inventory Management System Test Database Julian Date: " + ls_julian
Thanks Larry
PS - it would be great if in one of your future releases you have an build option which analyses the compiled exe and provides a list of the required PB DLLs that the EXE is looking for. Hate to say but the current documentation is very difficult for us to determine what is and is not required.
