Awful Performance of PB2025 .xlsx Export

Hi all
We've recently upgraded to PB2025 (Solution - build 3726) and along with that to the new .Net8 based saveas XLSX dll.
It didn't take long for us to run into the return -1 issue when exporting somewhat large-ish data sets (>50k rows) in a 32 bit application. We then tried a workaround, exporting the data in chunks (30k rows per file in a regular 32 bit application, 100k rows in a 4GB patched 32 bit application)
Now that kind of works (even if it's a clear downgrade in terms of functionality) but what's even worse is the performance of the new XLSX export.
I've compared exporting around 200k rows in different builds.
| PB 2025 32 bit unpatched | split into 7 chunks of max 30k rows | 381 seconds |
| PB 2025 32 bit with 4GB patch | split into 3 chunks of max 100k rows | 364 seconds |
| PB 2025 64 bit | single file | 280 seconds |
| PB 2022 32 bit | single file | 36 seconds |
So not only does the new Appeon.PowerBuilder.DataWindow.Excel12.dll run into serious memory issues in a 32 bit application, it's also up to 10x slower than the old solution!
As a result I have two questions:
- To Appeon: Are there any plans to improve the performance of .XLSX Exports in PB2025 R2
- To the Community: Does anyone have an alternative solution to create large XLSX files from PB 2025
Regards,
Markus
