What is the recommended Client/Server architecture in PB22/25

Hi all,

I have an old PB12 application. 
It runs on multiple client PCs. 
It connects to a central Oracle database, retrieves data and updates data.

So each client PC has it's own database connection.

We wish to change the architecture whereby the multiple client PCs connect to a central application server.
Only the application server accesses the database.
Retrieval and update requests flow between the client PCS and the central app server.

How best to implement this in PB22/25. 
Was a time when EAServer would have provided some solution.

What is the current go?

How would the clients and the server exchange data and what would be the data format (ideally datastore)?

Powerserver?

How?

Is there a sample app I can look at?

A White paper?
