Hey all,
I wanted to bring up a topic that I think deserves a real answer from Appeon: how we can use AI tools like Claude Code with PowerBuilder 2025 R2 in solution mode.
I raised this during the R2 beta, and the response at the time was a fairly noncommittal "we're looking at it." That was about 6-7 months ago now, and in the meantime AI-assisted development has gone from a novelty to a standard part of how most developers work — I use it myself daily for native apps in Nextcloud and for C# projects, and I suspect I'm not the only PB developer doing the same.
Solution mode now stores source as plain text files instead of binary PBLs, so the technical barrier to AI tooling is largely gone. Given that, I think it's fair to ask Appeon for a bit more clarity on where this stands — it's becoming a genuinely important factor for developers weighing their options.
So I'd love an honest update: what is Appeon currently doing on this front? And for the rest of you — how are you already leveraging AI in your day-to-day PowerBuilder work, workarounds included?
Thanks in advance, and looking forward to hearing everyone's take.
Thanks
//Steen
