I'm supporting a 1996 PowerBuilder application that was developed at 640x480 resolution. Our current default resolution is 1920x1080. I've worked with 508 issues before by converting hard coded color schemes to windows color standards, and some of the other 508 compliant issues are pretty straight forward. My question is more specific to colorblind users.
PowerBuilder uses it's own color numbering system instead of more recent HTML six digit hex numbers. There may be a formula to convert them, I vaguely remember something about that. The real question for colorblindness is what level of difference do I need for a green and a red to be recognized as different colors. Perhaps I'm asking the wrong audience, maybe a similar question could be posed to an optometry school. It's hard for me to unit test for color blindness. Maybe there are some special colored glasses I could wear or something. Does anyone have any experiences with this from past projects?
