Hi,
We are using PB 2017 with offline licenses on machines without an internet connection.
According to the terms of the Appeon License User Guide, an offline license can only be released if properly disabled, so it is essential to back up all local drives on the machine. In the event of a computer failure, this backup would need to be restored to continue using or disabling the license. Otherwise, the subscription duration license would be unrecoverable. (https://www.appeon.com/support/documents/appeon_online_help/pb2017r2/appeon_license_user_guide/ch03s02.html#back-up)
We use HDM encryption using TPM, so a backup would not be recoverable on another system in the case of a hardware failure. An unencrypted backup of our systems is not allowed due to our security policy.
We must clarify how we should proceed in the event of a computer failure in order to restore the license.
a) What we specifically have to be done to restore the license on a new device with a different MAC address, serial number, volume ID, etc.
An unencrypted selective backup at the file level would only be permitted in accordance with our security policy, provided that no user data and no sensitive information are contained.
b) A written assurance that the original computer is no longer used and the license will be used on another computer is also possible ...
Many thanks
