Hello Appeon Support Team,

We are reaching out regarding pagination issues with Composite Reports in InfoMaker (version 2022 R3 Build 3441).

In addition to 100s of Freeform reports, our software solution includes a large number of complex reports built using the *Composite* Report presentation style, where each section is implemented as a nested report.

It's great that, with standard Freeform reports, InfoMaker correctly preserves line integrity during pagination — meaning full lines of text stay together, and a new line begins cleanly on the next page when needed.

On the flip side, from our experience, nested reports inside a Composite Report seem to not follow this behavior. When a nested report reaches the bottom of a page, the rendering engine appears to treat the nested report as a graphical block rather than text-aware content. As a result, bottommost text is sometimes split mid‑line, with the upper portion appearing on one page and the remainder on the next.

We understand from the documentation that Composite Reports handle nested reports differently than standard report types, and that automatic line-level pagination may not be supported. However, some of our customers are experiencing significant dissatisfaction with this behavior, and we would like to explore whether any of the following might be possible:

  1. Is there any existing setting, property, or undocumented technique that would allow nested reports to preserve line integrity during pagination?
  2. Is this behavior considered a shortcoming or a defect in the current InfoMaker rendering engine?
  3. Are there any planned enhancements in future versions of InfoMaker that would allow Composite Reports to handle pagination more gracefully?
  4. If not currently possible, would Appeon consider a feature-request to support “keep lines together” or “avoid row splitting” behavior for nested reports?

We appreciate that Composite Reports have known limitations/constraints, but given the impact on our customer’s reporting output, we would be grateful for any guidance, workarounds, or potential roadmap information you can provide.

Thank you for your time and assistance. We look forward to your insights...

D. Williams
