Not a question per se, but just something I wanted to share in case there are those out there, like me, that use a REALLY old version of PB
If you still have your SAP signon credentials, these steps were given to me by SAP tech support to generate a license.
NOTE: The steps followed exactly didn't actually work for me (various errors on the page) , but it was helpful to eventally get it done. I have to say, it is a very confusing site.
- Log in to your account via Home - SAP for Me
- Click on Services & Support under "Dashboards"
- Scroll down a little bit, and click on "Request License Keys"
- Click on the "License Keys" card
- Then, a list of installations, including history and license information, is displayed. To know the number of licenses for a specific installation, click on the "License information" highlighted in blue to display the result.
- Next, click on the specific installation, for example: 20747855 SYBASE K0734-1-1. Then a list of the current added systems will display.
- To + add a new system, click on the "Add System" button.
- Fill out the information > Product: SAP PowerBuilder
- Version: Select from drop-down list (e.g. SAP PowerBuilder 12.6)
- System ID: Enter any 3-character System ID
- System Name: Optional
- System Type: Productive System
- Operating System: Select from drop-down
- Click Continue
- TIP: To view only SAP PowerBuilder licenses entitlements available, select filter button > select Product Line SAP PowerBuilder > click Filter.
- Click Expand All which may display more details
- Click Generate next to the license entitlement you need
- License Usage: Select from the following options:
- Primary Use
- Alternative Use: Alternative User Licenses are subject to the terms and definitions contained in the Product Specific License Terms for this product. See link on page for more information.
- If prompted, click "I agree"
- License Model: Select from the following options:
- Served License: License files reside on a central, networked license server (or vitual machine). Host information is a bit more complex with served license model.
- Unserved License: License files reside on a single machine running the licensed program. As a prerequisite, you need to know the Host ID of the particular machine in order to obtain and install a working license key.
- Number of machines: Enter number of Host machines you are generating l icenses for (maximum 10 machines at a time)
- Quantity: Enter quantity (Tip: The quantity available will be displayed. Use the help links if you're not sure what to enter.)
- Click Next
- Host Information such as Server Host ID, Host Name, Port Number (Tip: Select the help links if you’re not sure what to enter for the host information. If you enter incorrect host information, the license key will not be recognized).
- Click "Generate"
- Then, repeat the steps to add additional license keys.
- Done
