This may be a silly question, but does the PowerClient project preload event have any advantage over the DLL/OCX Registration option when it comes to the user's access level to make changes on the computer?
We have customers that are more often than not NOT local administrators on their computer. This prevents them from registering a couple DLLs that we rely on. They then have to go get someone from their IT group to perform the install instead.
We have always used the DLL/OCX registration option. But I see the preload event option has a 'Run as Administrator' checkbox. Surely this doesn't allow a user that does not have administrator rights to perform the action, does it? If the user DID have administrator privileges, does it just prevent a prompt to elevate their privileges?
It would be awesome if it does allow the registration!
Is there any option, other than getting an IT person with admin privs to perform the install, to register DLL/OCX?
Thanks,
Glenn
