Hello,
I'm currently developing and deploying applications using PowerBuilder 2019, connecting to an Oracle 19c database.
During a recent security review, I discovered an issue where database connection information is exposed as plain text in a memory dump file created via the Windows Task Manager.
Specifically, the following connection details were visible in the memory dump:
-
ServerName
-
LogID
-
DBParm
I tried using "PowerBuilder 2025 trial" Secure Connection Encryptor to encrypt these connection details. However, even after applying encryption, the information still appeared in clear text in the memory dump.
Is there any recommended way or security practice in PowerBuilder 2019 to prevent database connection information from being exposed in memory dumps?
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
