Hi,

I'm wondering whether anybody has any recommendations for a third party Richtext edit control to use with Powerbuilder (10.5 at the moment)?  We want something with html support, track changes and inline spell checking.  I've downloaded the TE Edit Control which seems to work fairly well.  I also wanted to try the TX Text control but I can't get it to work.  Are there any other controls out there that people use, or does anyone use the TE Edit Control?

Thanks.

We use TxText ActiveX v23. The problem only if you plan to compile your app in 64-bit. TxText does not provide 64-bit component and they don't plan to do that.

We end up using CKEditor on the top of Web Browser ActiveX

Thanks Yuri. I had a quick look at the CKEditor, it looks like it would be a fair bit of work for me to try and incorporate it into our application.  I got TxText v24 working but then I realised it doesn't implement Track Changes, so I think I will end up using TE Edit Control which looks good so far and has excellent support from the developers during my testing.

Hi Daryl;

  FWIW: PB 2017 will replace the Rich Text Control that Roland mentions with an Appeon equivalent. I'll try & find out what exact features (limitations) are included in this new control vs the current Sybase embedded one that you are using.

Regards ... Chris

Hi Chris, I saw on this post: https://community.appeon.com/groups/powerbuilder/pb-2017-rich-text that the new rich text control requires (among others) the following dlls TER24.dll, spell32.dll and HTS19.DLL, so I'm assuming the new rich text control is built on TE Edit?  If that is the case are all the features of TE Edit available e.g. Track Changes, In-line spelling?

The built-in one is TX TextControl version 11.

Thanks Roland.  The built in one doesn't do track changes or integrate with their spelling component so I can't really use that.  I think their current version is 24.
