Hello,

we just updated from PB2021 to PB2022. Now we run in a strange problem. Is there a change between PB2021 and PB2022 how printouts are controlled?

We print invoices (via a datawindow). The font of the text is Arial 10pt.  Now some of our customers (until now all with Windows 10) report that this text  is now printed in another font (don't know which one, but something with serifs) with 12pt. If a PDF is created or in Print Preview mode the output is ok. It seems that there is some strange font substitution taking place.

If we run the same application with PB2021 everything runs well.

Any idea? Missing runtime files?

Regards

Roy

Hello,

it seems that my problem is solved. The customer used a very old printer driver (PCL5). I updated the driver to a newer one (PCL6) and now it works.

BTW: It was a Kyocera

We have the same problem since upgrading from PB2019 to PB2022. Our datawindow where we have the problem is designed with Arial font. Arial is replaced by other fonts when printing on a Kyocera printer. When printing to a Canon printer or exporting to PDF, the output is fine.
In my opinion, this is a bug in PB2022 and it cannot be the task of a company to update all printers. Can this bug be fixed in PB2022?

By the way: It looks like the bold font is changed in Courier New (or similar) and the normal font is changed in a barcode font.

Hi Juergen

do you have any news about the support ticket you created?

Hi Arthur,

yes, the issue I'd reported has been fixed in the PowerBuilder 2022 MR (build 1900) release.

The problem has been reported to Appeon several times (also by other users). The issue is also described here: https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/search/view?id=9366

We had this same issue upgrading from PB2019 to PB2022 last week. Thanks to this to question/solution it pointed us in the right direction, but we had to use the HP Universal PCL6 driver with our Kyocera to make it work.

Hi, Roy -

I don't know the cause, but this sounds like the DW rendering engine is unable to determine what fonts are available on the default/selected printer.

Are the customers that are reporting this issue using Citrix? If so, is a default printer defined in their Citrix session(s)?

Best regards, John

Hi,

no Citrix. Today I will drive to one of the customers and will look for a solution onside. Perhaps an issue with old printer drivers.
