Hi All,

I installed Powerbuilder 2017 and have oracle 11g client 32 bit installed in windows server 2008 machine 64 bit.

When trying to connect to database through DB profile , I am getting error "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified". Reading the different solutions , I changed my PB directory other than Program files(x86). Still I am getting error.

I am able to connect to database through SQL developer.

Please help..

Thanks in advance

Nine times out of 10 this error means that the entry in the TNSNAMES.ORA file for the database is incorrect.
Take a look at that file to verify that it contains accurate information, and fix it if an error is found.

Another issue is when people have more than one TNSNAMES.ORA file in their system, or pointed to by the PATH variable. Please ensure that you have one and ONLY one of these files.

Olan is correct.

I would make sure you can connect using sqlplus before worrying about powerbuilder. If you can connect with sqlplus and not powerbuilder, then check your connection info is correct.

Basically the error you are getting is that the Oracle SID is not found in tnsname.ora

Thank You Olan.

I had multiple tnsnames.ora file in my machine. I renamed all the other files except which is needed.

I can now connect through Powerbuilder DB profile. Thank You so much
