Hi,

we are currently searching for a PDF component for our PowerBuilder Apps

Our requirements are:

a) create PDF Files from different Files like DocX, Excel and other file types
b) create PDF FIles from PB reports
c) create PDF/A files for a) and b)
d) create PDF/A-3 files e.g. for creating valid 'ZugFeRD' compatible PDF/A-3 files for invoices
e) additional feature like watermarks, Printing PDFs, Viewing PDF and so on would be nice.

We are looking into Amyuni PDF Converter and  PDF Creater

Any other known Tools to do this?

The German product "PDFLib" is not possibly as it is only a PDF Creater and not a PDF Converter as needed => Point a)
The German product "PDF Creator" is also not possible because of license restrictions

Also we would like to have a component we can deploy to our customers and does not depend on Ghostscript because of license restriction for commercial apps.

We need a license model for ISVs as we sell the apps to our customers ... e.g 'royalty free devployment' would be nice but not a must have.

any recommendations in genereal?

any recommendations used with Appeon Web?

any components used already for this kind of stuff in PB?

TIA

I have used AMYUNI PDF Creator and Converter for many years, its quite robust but costly per licensed user.  There was some advanced deficiencies with the product in generating high volume PDF content in 4.x series , not sure if those problems still existed but with anything sub 10k pages wont likely have any issues

Newer versions probably support all the features you suggest and technical support is ok

I suggest waiting to look at what PB 2017 delivers first, since free is always nice :)

Hi Heino;

When Appeon releases PB 2017 next week (June 30th) - internal PDF generation will be one of its new features. Being internal means that you will have no royals to use or distribute (part of PB run-time) this functionality with your PB Apps.

HTH

HI,

will the new internal PDF generation support PDF/A-3?

FYI: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF/A#PDF.2FA-3

Hi,

as far as I know is PDF/A and PDF/A-3 not possible

the internal PDF Native doesn't fit our needs as already talked before.

at least point a) c) d) and e) are missing :-(

so we can't use it.

But b) is already today possible without  trouble using latest ghostscipt (just for your information) including signed printer driver

SO: any recommendation for a complete PDF solution !?

TIA
