I just installed PB2022 b1878 and converted my applications.
The conversion went as smooth as silk!  :)

HOWEVER..... the icon is EXACTLY is the same as the PB2019R3 icon, both on the desktop shortcut and in the application IDE.

It sure would be nice if the color was changed to something - ANYTHING - other than the same orange as used in the icon on every other version of Appeon PB.

Or maybe provide an option to allow the users to select from one of, say....10, different colors of the icon for their current build of the IDE.

Something like this keeps the color and gives you a visual clue that you are using 2022.

VERY nice!

And yes, something like this would indeed help us differentiate between the various versions.

Hey Olan...I would agree that it would be nice to be able to do that out of the box so-to-speak. In the absence of that, in addition to Roland's suggestion via the link he included in the Q&A John provided for you, you can also change the icon a couple of other ways:

1) Click on the start menu, locate the PB IDE 2022 menu item, right click and choose More then Open file location, right click on the shortcut and choose properties, then click change icon. Once you have selected a new icon it will default to this icon on the Taskbar and in the Start menu listings (no, the IDE icon does not change as that's taken from the executable but at least you have the text in the window frame to know the version you're working with)

2) Create a shortcut of the PB executable on your desktop (or anywhere) and basically go through the steps above starting with right-clicking of the shortcut (however this approach won't change the icon in the Start menu, then again it should be obvious which menu item you're choosing).

After you've done either of the above, while PB is running, right click on the taskbar icon and click Pin to taskbar.

Yes, more steps than we might like but accomplishes what is intended.

I have a modified PB22 icon and it looks like this:

Sorry Appeon if I'm infringing on any copyrights, protections or negatively impacting the brand/ identity but that certainly wasn't my intention...just satisfying a need for quicker, clear differentiation of apps via their icon.

P.S. Congrats on your retirement Olan, hopefully you'll stay involved in the Community!!

HTH...regards,

Mark

Thanks to all who made the suggestion, however I do know how to change the icon of an application shortcut to any of the standard Windows icons; but that's not what I want.

Ideally, we would have the same, identical, Appeon PB icon in 10 different colors to use on the desktop. We could pick the color we want for the version(s) we are using. That's it. Simple. At a minimum, just including these 10 different icons in the .ICO file currently used for PB now should allow us to make that kind of change for the shortcuts.
