Resolved PB 17 issues w d/w and few other things

PB17 crapped out while working on d/w.  then laptop crashed;  

IT moved the hard drive to a new computer and got it going.  but i'm still having problems with datawindows as well as slew of other things.

when i search the objects, it allows me to enter the search word, but no search window on bottom shows; the search window just disappears.

when i open a d/w, once i retrieve data to preview, it actually shuts down PB.  

when i open the query window, it does weird stuff like show me 3 blank results windows even though i havent started a script yet.

when i am in d/w, if i multiselect few fields to line up, NONE of the line up options lite up.. nothing is enabled.

 

i've re-installed pb17 after uninstalling it.  and nothing seems to help.  

any suggestions as to my next steps?

for now it seems to be ok..   no way i would've ever figured this out.  so i thank you very much!

  Is the new Laptop the same MS-Windows version (what is it)  & build as your old machine?

yes.. it's the same windows version (windows 10.22)

Hi Woody;

Please try ...



=> Close your PB IDE



IDE Layout reset ....

1) Locate your "working" PB.ini file as listed in the IDE's System Options" dialogue.

2) Open that PB.ini instance in Notepad (or equivalent)

3) Locate the Dock= entry

4) Replace your entry with ...

Dock=1 2001 0 1 24 67 0 0 320 169 2003 0 1 24 33 0 0 320 169 2002 3 1 19 100 0 0 320 169

5) Save the PB.ini changes.



Painter Layout reset ....

1) open the RegEdit utility

2) Navigate to "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Sybase\PowerBuilder\22.0\Layout"

3) Delete the "Default" sub-folder

4) Close RegEdit.



Now restart your PB IDE. HTH
