In my Powerbuilder DB Profile, the installed Database Interface for ODBC is not visible. I tried to import the profile and am prompted if I want to overlay it and I say Yes. It also attempts to connect when I open datawindows but fails since my password has recently changed. These things make me think ODBC is still present, but it does not show in my list. I need to have access to it to update my password.

I'm looking for a way to get ODBC to show in my list of Installed Database Interfaces. Thanks!

Hi Steve,

Thank you for using PowerBuilder!

Glad you figured this out with the kind help of Roland and Andreas. Thanks, Roland and Andreas.

Renewing the license will not affect the internal functions of the IDE. Can you recall whether there was any misoperation of the registry or other special events before the problem occurred? If you can recall or if this kind of problem occurs again, please remember to record in detail the operation steps before the problem occurred and submit a ticket at https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/newbug

Regards,

Mora

Run RegEdit and find this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Sybase\PowerBuilder\##.0\Vendors (where ## is the major version of PowerBuilder).

You should have a value for each interface. The one you are missing is:

ODB     ODBC

Your screen shot is correct in that I used to see ODB ODBC in my list. It was there not too long ago but now it is missing. The application uses a 32 bit ODBC connection and I know that is installed on my machine as I'm able to run the EXE application. And when I tried to import ODB ODBC from a file, it told me it was there and asked if I wanted to override it. It seems it must be there but just is not visible to me.

FYI I'm using PB 2019 R3. Nothing much has changed recently that I can think of other than my license was recently renewed.

You cannot see ODBC within PowerBuilder?

Or you are not able to see you configured DSN?

If you can't see the DSN, then it may be you don't used ODBC Datasources 32-bit but 64-bit...

Andreas.
