Resolved n-up datawindows and groups

Hi,

We're using PB19 R2 but the issue is the same on all previous versions.

 

I'm trying to achieve a n-up datawindow with groups, which does not seems possible out of the box.

I created a normal datawindow with groups.

I modifiied my datawindow with edit source to add "rows_per_detail = 3"

The resultt is almost fine. I just have an empty line appearing as the second line of the groups (see screenshot).

 

I know it's not supported behaviour and I won't totally mind keeping the line on that particuliar report but I wonder if anyone has any idea how I could get rid of that pesky white line.

The blank row displays after the first row of every group.

I added some different background colors for datawindow, detail and each group headers and footers.

It's the datawindow background color displaying of the empty rows.

I also added an objet in the detail band which is taller than the band and it's cut clean so it doesn't seem that some detail band are bigger than the others.

 

I discovered other issues like some group headers not showing. So I went another route.

 

Thanks all for your help.

I know it's a not a supported feature but sometimes there's workarounds.

Try putting an expression in the HEIGHT property of every column in the detail band: 
       (IF  (isNull (main_column) or TRIM (main_column) = ""), 0, 76 )

76 is my guess for the height of the columns when data does exist.

Hi François;

    I wonder if a row here and there is generating something larger than the margin width (even an extra space) that then causes the DWO to perform a "wrap around" and hence the blank row appearing?
