Hi All

I am new to IM - trying to get up to speed.  I opened up an older file in 2017R2 and it migrated up.  It then asked me to select a database profile, then I get an error - "Attempt to open DataWindow failed".  I was able to open the reports and try to run them, but I am unable to get into the data source design on any of them.

Any quick thoughts on what I may have missed or any consultants that may have an hour to help walk me through getting started?

Thanks.

Brad

Hi Brad;

    Wow ... bummer!  surprised

    Another idea: If you are running the IM Reports from an Executable produced by the earlier version of IM, then there will be an INI file in the same folder as the IM App's EXE. That INI will contain the current DB connection information you need for your new IM.

    If you do not have an IM based EXE, then the next step would be to contact your IT people - more likely your DBA group - for the proper DB connection information. Once you have that, then you can recreate the DB Profile connection in IM2017

Regards ... Chris

Thanks Chris.  Unfortunately, there are no older versions of the Infomaker available to me and it looks like the original developer system has long since been recycled.  I tried to create a new definition using what I thought was the correct ODBC connection, but that has not worked.  I can connect to the database and can start to run the report (i.e. get retrieval arguments window to come up), but can't get in to see what the datasource definition actually is.

Hi Brad;

   Yes, you will need to recreate the DataSource definitions in IM2017R2 as was present in your previous IM version.

TIP:

1) Start your previous version of IM

2) Open the DB Profile Painter

3) Export all your DataSource definitions into an INI file.

4) Start IM2017R2 IDE

5) open the DB Profile painter

6) Import the DataSource definitions from the INI file that you created in step #3

HTH

Regards ... Chris
