Hi,

one of our users has a problem with all of our applications we written with Powerbuilder 2017 (R2):

All menu items are disappeared. The space were the menu should be is still there. Also the toolbar and the icons are visible.

It seems a problem with the users profile because other users have not this problem on the same machine.

Any hints?

Hi Brad,

all of our powerbuilder applications but no other applications were involved.

We have now created a new windows user profile and all is ok now.

But is still a miracle.

This may be totally unrelated, however, I also experienced a main menu item text "disappearing" since PB 2017 R2.  In my case, it was the "Window" menu item text becoming blank in one of the windows.  The change I did which (seem to) introduce the issue was changing a datawindow column to a richtext style column.  When I undo this change, the issue doesn't happen.  The workaround fix I did was to uncheck the enabled property of the datawindow, then set it to true during runtime after data retrieval.  It is still an issue in R3.

Thanks for your suggestion. This isn't a major issue for us, most especially since I've got a workaround fix for it. However, there are a few more RTE issues that I've found, some of which I haven't got any workaround (yet). These issues I may consider reporting via the support ticketing system.

we don't use RichText column style. So I think its a different reason.

Is it possible they've done something like setting the foreground and background of menu items to be the same? Does it happen in other applications too?
