Scenario:

  1. Server has InfoMaker reporting tool installed on it: version 2022 build 1892
    1. Libraries can be created and opened / same as reports can be created in the libraries
    2. DB connection is set and data can be retrieved 
    3. It is Windows server 2016
  2. Another server has a shared folder that contains all report files of type PSR.
    1. The two servers can reach each other and connect
    2. It is Windows server 2016
    3. Using Windows file explorer, I can navigate to the PSR file on shared folder >> double-click to open in InfoMaker >> and it works perfectly
  3. Users will access InfoMaker tool using Citrix connection
    1. Which makes the pervious point absolute, as uses would only have access to InfoMaker window

 

How to include existing PSR files in a library created in InfoMaker? 

As users need to navigate and open report files using InfoMaker (Files > Open > navigate to report > double-click to open)

Considering these files are shared between multiple users, they have to be opened from and saves changes in the same path/location

  • Reports cannot be duplicated to be included in the library of InfoMaker or moved to InfoMaker's local server to access them

Hi Abdulla; IM allows you to View an existing PSR as a Static Report (much like a PDF). It also allows you to run a Report and then save it as a PSR but not to edit an existing PSR file. However, under the hood - a PSR is actually a DataWindow object and its related Data Set all together in the one physical file. If you own PowerBuilder (IM's programmable big brother/sister) you can extract (separate) the DWO source and the Data. Then allow a user to edit the data set. Then reproduce the PSR with the edited data. IM cannot perform that low level functionality though. HTH Regards ... Chris

Hi Abdulla;

  That all sounds great. I think that all you need to do now is create a procedure for the IM users that instructs them to save their reports in that specific folder structure so that their PSR reports can be shared.

Hello Chris,

Apologies if I was not clear enough. But my issue is not being able to open existing PSR files in IM to modify and edit them. I can create new just fine, but I need to edit the ones already created and placed in a shared folder.
