Hi,

I'm using Powerserver Appeon PowerServer 2019 Build 2151.00

Powerbuilder Universal Edition. Version 2019 Build 2082

We have performance problems with some PC Users when executing a Web PB App.

I mean, in my  PC and other 4-5 Users I open the web app, and it last for about 2-3 seconds loading.

But in some others, It last for about 2-3 not seconds but minutes.

I have ckecked memory for all of them, and they all have 8 GB- Ram Memory and only half of use.

All of then have Windows 10 and the hard disks are full as little as 25% or less.

Some others web apps (Not PB, not in our appserver but from internet) seems to work fine.

I think it is a system problem, but do you have any experience in issues like this: Some of the clients working with the PB web app at light speed and others at the Dick Dastardly car speed?

Any idea for fix it?

thanks for you help, guys.

Hello,

It mustn't be a trivial issue, because we can't fix it. It seems that we could make an Antivirus rule for not to check malware, but when we put the AppeonMultiBrowser.exe in the exception list, it doesn`t work.

so, we are going to open a ticket to Appeon to know  if there is any other process that is running when a PB Web application is running: We need to know all the processes that are running to open a ticket to mcafee, if they can't  be excluded.

if you know any, please let me know.

Thanks!!!

Regards

Juan Pedro Sanz Díez.

Finally we found out what happens or close to. Is an Antivirus-SO issue.

We found out that those  PC with windows 10 and the version of mcaffe Endpoint security 10.6 have the performance issues. Specifically, the antivirus property that collides with the operating system is : Antimalware Scan Interface.

I Think there is another windows property with the same name:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/amsi/antimalware-scan-interface-reference

It doesn't work properly from my house either, and I have a kaspersky one. When I arrive at home I'll search for this property. I have windows 10.

If we uncheck  this property, the aplication goes as the fastest with other OS, or antivirus version.... So the systems mates are traying to  ovoid this problem. We think the processes that runs the application are AppeonMultiBrowser.exe and AppeonMultiBrowserLauncher.exe, aren't they? we need it to make an antivirus rule with them.

Thanks!!!!!

Regards

Juan Pedro

The only thing I can think of if one user is fast and another user is slow and everybody is on same specifications of hardware and same network then it should be that the database is being locked by first user so the second user is not able to do what they need to do.

It think isn't nothing with the database: The queries go fine in every PC.

Hi Juan;

FYI: There is a new command in the "appeonextfuncs" object class named "of_networktest ( long lcount )". I use this in my framework at App start-up to test the basic responsiveness of the Web/Mobile App's network connectivity to PowerServer. The framework logs this value and if it comes back as "too slow" (based on the threshold I set), my framework can then notify the support team.

The important thing about the value from this command is that is shows you the current Client to PS network latency time (and even configuration). Basically, a "Ping" like communication with no data to show you the minimum overhead response time (best case).

other plug ins can slow things down

you do need to download your app (it will stay cached) so that download can slow things down

Well. It is the same performance in edge and Chrome. I have used also IWA Browser and has the same perfomance. It seems is browser independent. I Think we can rule out that be any plug-in....

In the other hand, I checked the user cache, deleted it, run and had the same performace (Both caches, default an browser)
