I just spend a full day on migrating my Pb 2019 R3 build 2703 and our customers to 2797 for nothing.

Of all the bugs listed on https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/bugfixes?contents=&product=PowerBuilder&category=&version=2019+R3&build=2797 the only one that could affect us, was the bug 7748 https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/bugfixes/view?id=866.

 [EDIT]

Turns out that that the bug does not exist on 2019. It's a 2021 bug. Please read Julie's answer: It only happens with specific builds of PB 2019 R3 and specific (older) versions of Windows 11. Information that could have been given along with the info on the bug fix.

regards.

Hi Miguel,

Our test team has tested the bug #7748 against PB 2019 R3, and found that the issue exists on certain Windows 11 versions.  That is:

PB 2019 R3 build 2779 on Windows 11(10.0.22000.194): Has issue.

PB 2019 R3 build 2779 on Windows 11(10.0.22000.1098): Works well.

So if some users stay on the older Windows 11 version (like 10.0.22000.194), we recommend them upgrade to PB 2019 R3 build 2797, because:

PB 2019 R3 build 2797 on Windows 11(10.0.22000.1098): Work well.

PB 2019 R3 build 2797 on Windows 11(10.0.22000.194): Works well

Best regards, Julie

Hi Julie,

Thanks for clearing that up. BTW: How can any user "stay on any older version" of Win 10 or 11? Nowadays you're being pretty much obliged to constantly update to the latest version of windows. The only way I can think of, is by setting your connection to be a "metered" one and then not allowing updates on a metered connection.

Hi Miguel...this can be accomplished a number of ways, including via the Windows Services app, Group Policy and even the Windows Update task in Task Scheduler. However, for those in a well managed environment these options may not be available. And, there may be other updates that one would absolutely want/ need to have that are released subsequent to this one and so then one is stuck between a rock and a hard place by turning Windows Updates off.

May be a tricky scenario depending upon ones environment.

HTH...regards,

Mark

Just one of these days!

Personally I do not hug my datawindow for a while - although it is not the datawindow's fault :-(
