I have an instance of "Oracle Express XE 18" loaded on a desktop.

Using this desktop -

I am able to connect to that XE with Oracle Developer, SQL+ and Toad - proving the validity of my tnsnames.ora and authentication protocols

I am NOT able to connect to that XE with PowerBuilder. When I attempt a connection I get error message:

"Please connect as the PowerBuilder Catalog Owner. This is necessary for the initial connection to Oracle to GRANT privileges on the repository

PowerBuilder is able to connect to other external server resident Oracle databases, but not the local desktop resident Oracle Express XE.

Who/What is a PowerBuilder Catalog Owner?

Other likely pertinent information:

1. I have been using PowerBuilder for 20 years but recently upgrade to Appeon's version in order to migrate to Win10.
2. This is the first time PowerBuilder has been loaded on this particular desktop.
3. This is the first time I have tried to connect PowerBuilder to an Oracle Express instance

Is there some trick to connecting to an Oracle Express?

Hi Randy

Please click the System tab in the Database Profile Setup page, input your username in the PowerBuilder Catalog Table Owner field and then try again.

Please refer to the following links:

IN PB, log into oracle as the schema owner (login name is schema name) and make sure you have rights to create objects and set permissions in the database schema

You should also state what version of PB you are using, release and build number
