I am updating our application to use the new ribbon bar control. With that I also need to update all of our current bitmaps and Icons so I am looking for your input on the best way, place, etc to do that.  From what I can tell the only delivered PNG images for the ribbon bar are in the 'Select Image' option in the RibbonBar Builder program. Those images might work for most of my actions but of course we have other images that don't 'match' the ones in there. Do you all just use the ones they have delivered? Create your own? Do you use a free library (if so which one)? All of the above?

Thank you,

Chris Craft

Chris -

In mid-December, Julie Jiang supplied Zip files containing the extracted small and large RibbonBar icons in both bmp and png formats (which was VERY nice of her to do for the Community). Here is the link to the Q&A thread where she posted them:

Hi, Chris -

For some of the sample applications I've published in CodeXchange, I've used PNG icons obtained from:

www.freeicons.com

There are many thousands of high-quality images that I think would be suitable for use in a RibbonBar. Legally, you are required to provide attribution for any image you use. The images can be downloaded in either SVG or PNG formats.

You might also check out the icons on Google's Material Design website:

https://material.io/resources/icons/?icon=bookmarks&style=baseline

These are available in SVG or PNG formats and they might also work for you. I found this after a recent post from Jeff Martin piqued my interest on what Material Design is about.

That's the way I read it, also, but I too am (thankfully) not a lawyer. That would stand to reason, as it would be in line with the purpose and goals of Material Design.

If I was going to use any of these resources, particularly in a commercial product, I would first ask legal counsel for their input just to protect myself.

Thanks guys for your comments. If I end up using those I will check with our legal counsel.

One last question - with the new images in PB 2019 (ie. ...Small! and ...Big!) what dll do those exist in? I assume all the new images found in the 'Select Image' program is coming from a single dll?
