Hi guys,

When I start Powerbuilder, I am greeted with a message "The Sybase SySAM license was not validated."

I added the line "LogSySAM=1" under the "PB" section of PB.ini, to capture the pb120_sysam.log file. But it didn't generate a SySAM log file.

I checked the server on which the license is installed. In C:\Sybase\SYSAM-2_0\licenses, there were two .LIC files:

SySAMLicenseServer.lic

SERVER_20160503_220243.lic

The SySAMLicenseServer.lic file looks clean and readable. The other LIC file is garbled, possibly corrupted.

I ran LMTOOLS, clicked on the "Server Status" tab, and clicked the [Perform Status Enquiry] button. I generated this error:

Error getting status: No SERVER lines in license file.
License path:  C:\Sybase\SYSAM-2_0\licenses\SERVER_20160503_220243.lic;
FlexNet Licensing error:-13,66
For further information, refer to the FlexNet Licensing documentation,
available at "www.flexerasoftware.com".

Questions:

- can I just fix the problem by deleting the LIC file?

- if not, what other solutions are there?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Resolved.

Found an uncorrupted copy of the SERVERNAME_20160503_220243.lic file in C:\System Software. Copied it to C:\Sybase\SYSAM-2_0\licenses. That didn't work.

Opened LMTOOLS. Clicked "System Settings" tab. Noticed that the Computer/Hostname was the server name without the domain, so checked the "Include Domain" check box. Then clicked on "Start/Stop/Reread" tab, clicked [Stop Server], then [Start Server]. Works! Powerbuilder starts up for me (and since this is a served license, I expect it will work for the other staff when they return on Monday.

Thanks for your support.

FWIW: Now .. back it up, back it up and then back it up once more. Once you loose this Sysam server it would be nearly impossible to recreate - even with SAP's help.
