Resolved Summary band native PDF

Hi.

 

In PB2019R2:

 

We experience a weird situation when saving a datawindow to PDF using the Native method.

The summary band autosizes, even if the checkmark is off and the height is set to 0.

We have even extracted the datawindow syntax using the dw_data.describe() statement, and the datawindow renders with the summary band collapsed when we paste the syntax into a new datawindow using "Edit source".

The summary band stays collapsed if we use another PDF "printer", like CutePDF or AmyUni.

 

Have anyone experienced this before?

And is there something we can do to find the reason why this happens?

 

I've been using PB for 15 years and have never seen this before.

Looks like it's been classified as a bug :)

I guess it will be OK in R3.

At the moment the status is "Scheduling".

So it looks like it will not be included in R3.

Tobias is correct that "scheduling" would imply it would be in a future version not 2019 R3. Please implement the workaround temporarily.

Please don't fix this bug!

It's the only way we have of getting the summary band to properly auto resize with a auto-resize nested report inside. No, it doesn't display correctly in a native app, but saved to PDF it renders correctly!

Greetings, Bjarne -

May I assume the summary band contains one or more DWObjects? If so, what is their Visible property value? If they are visible, but hidden by having the summary band height set to zero, can you try making them invisible? Can you try (only as a test) removing all DWObjects from the summary band to see if that affects the behavior?

Have you tried setting the summary band height to a very small, non-zero value (like 4 PBU's)?

Can you zip the exported DW source and post it so that we can examine it to look for clues?

The objects are set to visible,.

The summary band stays collapsed if we remove all the DWObjects in the summary band or set them to visible = false.

If not, the height of the band and/or autosize is not taken into consideration.

This might be a bug?

That satisfies MY definition of a bug ... I can't speak for Appeon, however. I'd report it, particularly since you have a reproducible test case.

At least you have a work-around!
