Just trying to find out what software people are using to interact with a Sybase Database (ASE 16).

We are using Infomaker (12.5, 2017) and DBeaver, unfortunately they do not list user functions.  Not sure what others are using but if you have a few minutes please let me know the software and any features you like that the software provides, also if its free vs cost.

Thanks in Advance...

Dave V.

Hi David;

   I just tested ASE 16 and SS2017. You cannot see the SF's in the DB Painter in PB2017R3 or PB2019 when connected to ASE. You can create, alter, drop or execute them. You just cannot see them in the DB Painter's "System Tree"

  However, SF's are fully viewable when connected to SS2017 in the same PB or IM PB Painter. Looks like this is an ASE bug to me from the PB ASE driver POV.

HTH

Regards ... Chris

I think he is talking about the database painter not showing user defined functions. It is showing them for me with SNC SQL Server. He is using Sybase ASE.

Hi Roland;

You could be correct. David's post is a bit ambiguous.

I am not sure about the ODBC connection options, but using the "ASE" native connection in either IM or PB should should show UF's - just like in SS - in the DB Painter.

Roland is correct, we are not seeing user functions in IM or PB. We can "create" them but unless you know they exist you can't see them. Roland mentioned the ASE.sql file, have not had a chance to look for it to see if that will update IM/PB so we can see them.. If you have any other Idea's let me know and thanks for the response..both of you.

There is a SQL script in the install that you can run that improves the database painter's interaction with Sybase ASE.

Look in the 'Server' folder. Use PBSYC.SQL for the SYC interface or ASE.SQL for the ASE interface.

Not sure if it will help.

Can you point me to the "server" folder? I have installed PB 2017R3 and I can't find the folder or two scripts.

Why not use PB2017?
