Hello every one,

our security team disable SMB protocol version 1 and version 2 and allow version 3.3

now i can not deploy web services from power builder

is that normal? does power builder does not support the recent version of this protocol ?

i am using power builder 2017 R3

please advise

Hi Ayman ;

  For the Server Message Block, are you referring to the old PB Web Service feature as published via the Web Service "Project" object?

FYI ...

The following features are considered as obsolete features, starting from version 2019:

.NET Web Service target (using SOAP)

.NET Assembly target

That means that Appeon will no longer support these features. You can continue to use them but no fixes will be forthcoming.

The .NET 2.0 framework and SOAP protocol itself (introduced in PB 11.0) are now deprecated by Microsoft as well. Appeon's replacement for these features is the new "Web API" feature in PB2019.

Bottom line: So unless your operations team would like to restore the older SMB protocols, these PB2017 features will probably no longer work.

PB 2017 R3 uses .NET 4.x Framework.

I would check that SMB 3 is enabled on your developer machine.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/file-server/troubleshoot/detect-enable-and-disable-smbv1-v2-v3.

Hi Arnd ... While PB will use .Net 4.8 framework in W10 for some features, the old WS feature still only utilizes the .Net 2.0 features. ;-)
