PowerBuilder 2022 Build 1892. Ghostscript 10.01.2.

Many of our customers are now running our application via Remote Apps. We have a report with a .png file of the IRS W-2 form in the background with data controls being placed over the appropriate boxes.

The application 'Force NativePDF' setting is off and the PDF Export setting on the DataWindow is Distill so SaveAs PDF is using Ghostscript.

If the default printer is 'Sybase DataWindow PS' and we generate a W-2 report, it works fine. If a different printer is the default printer, the resulting PDF is completely blank. No image/no text data. This is with a single employee so just one page.

We tested with 'Microsoft Print to PDF' as the other printer. Both printers are local to the server.

The same process in PowerBuilder 2019 has no issue.

A more recent version of our app has 'Force NativePDF' turned on an we are having all sorts of different issues.

Nothing to do with the problem, but please be aware that licensing for Ghostscript has changed in the latest versions.

https://ghostscript.com/licensing/index.html

If I remember well, there's a way to not having to comply with the AGPL license by having the Ghostscript as "optional" ?

regards.

We have the end user install the free version separately from installing our application so there are no license requirements.

Hi Roland;

  FWIW: I tested GS v 10.02.1 this AM by using the DWO's Distill! setting. My my default printer was either an Epson or an HP printer.

  I could not replicate your issue. My guess is that it is due to an environmental issue in your O/S environment.  Food for thought.  HTH

Regards .. Chris
