Does anyone know if SAP plans to decommission Powerbuilder license generation?

Powerbuilder Licenses

Does SAP plan on decommissioning the license key generator for Powerbuilder 12.5.2 or PowerBuilder 12.6? Will the existing licenses be terminated at some point in the future?

Thanks!

Hi Christian,

I have been assured that you will be able to check in and generate your PowerBuilder/InfoMaker licenses on the SAP launchpad as long as you have your S user ID and password. They are perpetual licenses. If at any time you run into a problem doing that, please contact SAP CIC

Please check with SAP since Appeon cannot speak on behalf of SAP, but since SAP will stop providing mainstream maintenance after June 30, 2018 just keep in mind you may be on your own if any problems.

Armeen -

   That's completely true, but I would have thought that Appeon would take over the licensing of PB versions from 10 through 12 by keeping the Licensing Manager running. SOMEBODY needs to or everyone who owns those versions will have them locked onto their current PC forever. Why do I care? Because I have such a version, and last year I had to move it from PC A to PC B when the hard drive on PC A died a horrible death!  :O

   Therefore the correct question is not "am I paranoid?", it's "am I paranoid ENOUGH?". And Appeon assuredly has more influence and input to SAP then us mere licensees!

Thanks,

Olan

Hi Olan;

  FYI:  The agreement that SAP made Appeon sign to take over PB & IM specifically states that we cannot sell or support in any way PB or IM versions = 12.6.

Hi Christian;

  For a proper answer to this question, I would suggest posting this question in the SAP/PB Community forum.
