We started using Ribbonbar control and the users seem to like it a lot.

The problem we've encountered is that since our large menu has been completely redesigned certain items are harder to find, so I have an idea to provide a simple search tool - this is easy to implement using existing PBDOM functionality, but I'd like to "pre-select" the item that was found, but can't find the way to do that except category selection. 

For example, an item found in the dropdown menu of a smallbutton. Is there a way to open the dropdown programmatically and select the item?
