Windows 10
PBv12.1, b7055 successfully installed

I was finally able to install PB v12.1 onto my new Windows 10 VM. YAY!
 

Running the stand-alone SYSAM installer from the PBv12.0 GA CDs did install SYSAM v2.0 onto the VM.
But the SYSAM task will not start because our Windows 10 VM is set up to use IPv6 protocols.


I have tried to install the "Standalone SYSAM Installer" from the following...
 - EBF 18513 (sysam2.2_nt386)
 - the PBv12.5.0 GA CD
 - the PBv12.5.2 Sysam stand-alone installer (sysam2.2_nt386)
 - the PBv12.6.0 Sysam stand-alone installer (sysam2.2_nt386)
 
 
...in an attempt to get the binIPv4 and bninIPv6 folders installed into the  C:\sybase\SYSAM_2_0\bin folder
No luck.

 

Interestingly, after the initial PBv12.0 verions of the SYSAM installer - which fully succeeded, by the way, I ended up with a SYSAM-2.0 folder:

  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sybase\PowerBuilder 12.0\SYSAM-2_0" folder.


In EVERY other instance when I tried to install a later version of SYSAM, it always ends up installing but with errors, and the two folders I want are nowhere to be found. My final SYSAM folder looks like this:

I was able to get SYSAM working on my Windows 10 64-bit VM.  (I've added an article that covers this answer in more detail.)


After multiple attempts to get the app and the folders to install correctly, the final solution was:

   1)  install SYSAM from the PB v12.0/Support/Stand Alone SYSAM Installer
   2)  install the next version of SYSAM from the EBF 18315 ==> PBv12.1/Support folder: sysam2.2_nt386

         - in order to install this, the sysam2.2_nt386 folder must be copied onto your C drive, then installed from a CMD prompt

           by changing the directory to the sysam2.2_nt386 folder, then entering "setup -i GUI".

   3) Next, get a copy of three missing folders, LOCALE, IPv4, and IPv6, from somewhere that SySAM was installed correctly and place those folders into their appropriate into my SYBASE\SYSAM_2-0 directory in the appropriate locations, as follows:

Open up the Configuration Management window, go to SERVICES, and ensure that the SYSAM task is down.

Get into the LMTOOLS app and change the Config Services tabpag value "PATH TO THE LMGRD.EXE FILE" to point to the exe in the new IPv6 folder; as follows:

(Yes, I tried copying the lmgrd.exe file into the BIN folder and performing the following steps, but it did not work.)

Start the SYSAM task.

Generate a valid license file, put it into the LICENSES folder.

Then re-read the license:

 

Open up PowerBuilder v12.1 b7055 and go to TOOLS/Update License.

Open up the HELP/ABOUT and you'll most likely see that the HELP/About/Status is still "Evaluation"

Closed PB, opened it up again, Update the license again, and NOW it should read status=Valid:

Hi Olan.



For your information, the most recent release of SySAM for PB is v.2.3. It provides both a x86 and x64 installation. V. 2.2 is the one that was provided with pb. 12.6.
