My boss is trying to install SySAM on his new Windows 10 VM.

Are there known issues with that? Trick or tips? Hints? Clues? Treasure maps to success?

Thanks,.

Olan

Hi Olan;

   For older versions of Sybase / SAP PowerBuilder (aka <= v12.6) ... a  straight SYSAM license will not on a VM!

   What you would need to do at this point, is install a Sysam Server and attach your Sysam license to that server. This makes the PB IDE license a "served" license. Once you have that pair running, you can return back to the PB IDE and activate your Sysam license by giving the IDE the IP address of the SySam server.

    For more information on that process .. click here!

Note: I am not sure though if you can still install and run the old Sysam Server on the newer MS-Windows O/S's.

Regards ... Chris

PS: For those of you on PB 2017 - this antiquated Sysam licensing model is "history"!   wink

Yup, you need a "standalone served license" for remotely accessing a VM. That's my current setup and the one my boss previously had. Now the boss has a new VM and we're trying to get everything working like it was on his Windows 7 VM.

I was just wondering if there were any Win10-specific issues that had cropped up, or Win10-specific tips.

Oh...and THANK HEAVENS that silly SySAM server/license nonsense is history!!!!! YAY!

Thanks,

Olan

Hi Olan.

If the new vm has the same computer name and the user name (windows login) is also unchanged then it should work.

Andreas.

I installed the SySAM Server on Windows Server 2012-R2 and that has been working well for my employer.  That was PB 12.6.
