After installing the PowerServer Mobile PB edition on my local PC the deployment of my PB Mobile project now stalls for about 45 seconds on the 'Generating Other files' part of the deployment to the local server.

Used to just have the standard/regular PowerServer on my PC but switched to PB edition.

The old PowerServer on my PC published almost instantly and now this 45 second delay is really slowing things down.

Is there any setting I may have missed?  If anyone has any ideas...Thank.

OS: Windows 10 Pro
PowerServer: 2019
PB Edition: 2019 Build 2170

Chris:

I got an answer from Tech Support and they suggested to check the sub-folders and try unchecking the 'Include sub-folders' box on the deployment settings for the AEM.

Anyway, it turns out there were two large sub-folders I had created for Android APK file generation and that was the cause of it being so slow.  Having the checkbox 'Include sub-folders' checked I guess caused it to include these rather large APK folders.

I moved the folders elsewhere as they are not needed in the root folder anyway and the problems is solved.

Thanks for your help!

Richard

Hi Richard ... Yes, that would certainly create a "ton" of overhead. Definitely a great "what not to do" tip. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Chris:

Did what you suggested but that did not improve it at all.

Still stuck on 82% for over 45 seconds on each deploy and since it worked lightning fast with the Standard Powerserver (i.e. not the PB Powerserver) there must be something that is off here.

I will most likely submit this as a Tech support case since going forward with this slowdown is very difficult especially when testing both IOS and Android since we actually need to test on the physical devices.

Hi Richard;

Yes, please open a support ticket for your issue. It's strange though as I had the identical problem. The change I recommended fixed my deployment lag using PB/PS 2019. It still solves the same issue for me using now PB2019R2 and PS2020.

Hi Richard;

   This happened on my PC's as well when using a more recent W10 version and also with the "Windows Defender" anti-virus protection feature enabled.

   If this software combination applies to you, here is how I fixed it ...

  1. From the w10 start menu icon, select "Settings"
  2. From the Settings dialog, choose "Update & Security"
  3. On the resulting "Windows Update" dialogue, choose the "Windows Security" item on the LH-side
  4. From the next dialogue, choose the "Virus & Threat Protection" link
  5. In the next dialogue, choose the "Manage Settings" link
  6. In the next dialogue, choose the "Add remove exclusions" link
  7. In the last dialogue, select the "+ Add an exclusion" link
  8. Now enter the path to the PowerServer Toolkit's folder
  • for example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Appeon\PowerServer 2019\Toolkit"
  • or ... wherever you installed your PSTK

Note: The exclusion will also apply to all the exclusion folder's sub-folders as well.

HTH

Regards ... Chris
