Resolved PowerClient experience .. anyone ?

Hi all,

 

What is your experience with the PowserClient. 

 

i'm keen to use it, but during the R3 beta it just didn't work very well and no updates were provided during the beta.. so I'm curious as to how well it works before I invest any more time in it :-)

Have you success with it ? and have you tried to have the PowerClient hosted in azure and install your app at clients with a simple url ?

Hi Steen, 

We improved PowerClient a lot from the Beta to GA. So it is definitely worth your while to reevaluate this feature. Also，here is some feedback we collected from the customer about their experience of using PB 2019 R3, including the PowerClient. Thanks. I appreciate all the great work Appeon is doing and PB2019R3 is the best PowerBuilder EVER!

But I would really like some feedback on the PowerClient before spending more time on it since the beta almost did not work at all. I understand you have worked on it but has anyone used it seriously ?

Hi Steen,

I have deployed our application to one of our clients using the PowerClient 3 months ago.
There were few issues with AV during initial installation but after that it just works.

I have the files stored on the Azure File Share (so no web hosting/IIS) and users get updates from this URL.
After each local update I manually copy the latest version to AFS (probably I would use IIS if I would have to give updates more often).

Anti virus might throw false positive with some of the more obscure ones or older versions. Need to whitelist PowerClient or report false positive to the vendor and update the virus definitions.
